Month 1 of Summer
Although my original goal for the summer was to write a blog post about once a week, now that I'm a month in I guess I have failed with that, however here's an update about what I'm doing for the summer and how it's going. It's crazy to think almost a month ago, I moved back to Illinois for the summer. Honestly, I wasn't so thrilled about the idea of moving back home. However, the Lord has continued to fill my time back home with sweet reminders of His faithfulness and is working in my heart in a way that I didn't really expect. So what has the Lord been filling my time with and how am I continuing to grow?
After spending an adventure-filled week at home with my little brother while my parents were on vacation, I started both of my internships. It was really nice to come back home and get to spend some quality time with my siblings, however it was also enjoyable to get used to having a routine. Through interning at my home church, I have been able to help make over 300 casseroles for a fundraiser for our mission trip (we're leaving in less than 10 hours!!), help decorate for and organize VBS, and see a lot of new behind the scenes experiences of ministry. Through my business internship at Feutz, I have been able to learn more about the business industry, specifically construction and contracting. Along with these two internships, I'm also a full time student through IWU and I'm actually really enjoying my online classes. I honestly wasn't too stoked about being a full time student over the summer but I'm sure I'll think it's worth it once I graduate a year early. My business class has discussed how as Christians we must integrate theology and our beliefs into the way we do business as well; this has been a really interesting class for me and has definitely been my favorite so far.
Some other exciting parts of the summer have been being able to spend time with my best friend, Johnna when we can and being able to hang out and go on dates with my boyfriend, Sean. I'm also anxiously awaiting my friend Jill's arrival home after serving as a church camp counselor this summer. I've also been able to catch up with some other good friends while being home which has been so filling for my soul. I'm also extremely grateful to be back and spending time at my home church, even when I'm not doing work for my internship and being able to spend time with my family in Paris whether that's teasing my cousin, Piper, going on weekly ice cream dates with my sister or helping my brother train for cross country (I think it's more like he is helping me get back into it!!)
Above all else, here's just a small list of some of the things I'm learning since being home: how to be a morning person, always tell people you love them, how to clean coffee off my shirts (everyday occurrence), cherish the people around you, listen genuinely, don't forget to love on the people who aren't physically around you, give generously, don't compromise your values, words matter more than you think. List to be continued..

Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
