A Thank You to My Teachers After Graduation

There are so many people in my life who I feel are worthy of thanks and gratitude, however some of the most worthy are my teachers, especially my high school teachers. Although I've enjoyed almost all of my teachers, I got four years to grow closer to my high school teachers and many of them have truly helped shape the person I am today, here's some of the ones I would like to thank..

Mrs. Propst, you are seriously the sweetest person I have ever met in my entire life. You are an angel walking on this Earth and I am so very grateful I got the opportunity to learn from you at the old and new school. PHS is truly losing an irreplaceable teacher this year and I pray that someone steps up and teaches students the priceless life lessons you taught, however no one could ever replace you. Your love and lessons are worth more than I could ever put a price value on. Everyone needs a Mrs. Propst in their life, I'm blessed that I had THE Mrs. Propst.

Mrs. Howard, you seriously got me through my four years in high school. Little did I know when I walked into your class as a little freshman that I would be spending a majority of the next four years with you. I learned not only about one of my newfound passions from you, but simple yet useful skills from you. You are one of the most dedicated teachers I've ever met and you are probably also one of the most overworked teachers I've ever met, too. Yet somehow your enthusiasm and bright spirit is one that you are known for. I will miss our talks next year.

Ms. Knott or I guess the newly married Mrs. Crandell, PHS is losing a great asset to not only their faculty but to their support system. You weren't just a teacher, but a counselor, problem solver, life fixer, and motivator to the students you had. I know just for myself on multiple occasions where you knew something was wrong and you did everything in your power to fix it or to help me in anyway you could. Thank you for always listening to my stories and for being the friend I needed sometimes. I can't wait to see where you go next!

Mr. Stallings, thank you for challenging me. Thank you for not always giving me the answers I wanted and for making me think outside the box. I was scared when I walked into your dual credit class the first day, as I was one of the only students who hadn't taken your AP class yet you pushed me through it and by the end of the year I was waiting to type a 10-12 page research paper until the day it was due and somehow still earned an A..I'm still amazed by my procrastination skills on that one. Thank you for always reminding me that you were there if I needed someone although your lack of external emotions concerned me sometimes. Your class made me a better student and you made me want to push myself to always be better in whatever I do.

Mrs. Bennett, first of all, I will never call you this. Your permanent name is K-Rod (sorry Mr. Bennett). Now that we have that business taken care of, thank you for being my school mom the past two years. I am saddened that I didn't get to know you until my junior year however the quality of the memories I have with you makes up for the quantity that is lacking somewhat. Thank you for always cheering me up and pumping me up enough to get me through the few hours of the school day that I was actually at school during second semester of senior year. Thank you for understanding me better than I understand myself sometimes and always knowing when I needed a hug. I hope I always hold the title of being your "most loveable and huggable student." I will miss you so much next year, but I'm coming to see your baby next month so you haven't gotten rid of me yet.

Coach Nugent, thank you for all of your RT's on the FCA twitter, I knew you always had our back.

Mrs. Tingley, thank you for taking care of me the past three years. Whether it be a toothbrush or my daily lactose medicine, you always had my back. You are the one staff member I saw every single day for the past three years and I don't think I would've wanted it to be anyone else. Thank you for supporting FCA and stepping up when we needed a new coach. Your dedication to every single thing you do amazes me and I hope that I am as admired as you are by your athletes by the people in my life one day. Considering I missed you on the days you had a sub, I think I will miss you just a little bit next year, too!

Mr. Thomas, thank you for putting up with my shenanigans and printing out way too many copies of my transcript for me. Thank you for reminding me every time you saw me that I am a better student than my dad, you're the best.

Coach Clod, thank you for always saying hi to me every time you saw me in the hallway, it seriously made my day sometimes. Also, thank you for being supportive of FCA, I hope the students realize they are lucky to have you.

Mrs. Skelton, first of all I'm sorry that you had to put up with my craziness the past four years every single morning but I am thankful it was you and not anyone else! Thank you for always providing me with a place to just relax if life was catching up with me. Thank you for pushing me to chase my dreams and to never settle for less than what I deserve. Thank you for your dedication to not only our school but to seriously every single student who needs you. You are the safe place for so many of them and our school is more blessed than they will ever know to have you. Thank you for your hugs and your inspiration "go get them" talks, I will miss them.

Mr. Happ, thank you for not trying to kill me when I was seriously one of the worst math student ever. I didn't get it and I probably still don't, but that's okay. Thank you for also teaching me that snakes aren't that bad. They are still pretty terrible, but they are better than I thought.

Mrs. Stallings, thank you for inviting me to be in Interact and letting me be your STAR Leader junior year. I'm still a little upset I never had you in class however I am glad I got to know you through other things. Your positive spirit and upbeat personality are ones that you are known for and ones that I will miss.

Mrs. Wilson, I seriously thought your lab reports were going to kill me freshman year but I'm proud to say I survived them and with a passing grade! You are one of the teachers who prepared me most for college and I thank you for that.

Mrs. Block, thank you for making chemistry fun and for teaching me other lessons along the way. Your honesty, sense of humor and attitude about life are things I admire the most about you. Spirit Club wouldn't have been the same without you. I wish I would've taken AP Chemistry my senior year because I seriously missed having you in class but I am grateful for all of the time I did get to spend with you throughout high school. You're the best and keep rocking what you do!

Mr. Lynch, thank you for teaching me more than probably anyone else has. Although your words are so important, your actions speak more. You put so much on your plate and somehow still find time to serve others. I am so very grateful that I auditioned for the musical during my eighth grade year because it was the actual start to one of my favorite parts of high school. Thank you for teaching all of your students more than just government, theatre, criminology, and sociology. Your genuine talks about real life situations are some of my favorite. Your repetitive sayings are ones that will forever replay in my head with one of my favorites being "live life, clean house, help others." You do your best to be there for every one of your students and you are a true parent figure to many of us. Thank you for your love, PHS is losing a great teacher, mentor, and friend.

Mr. Ogle, I wasn't sure what to do with myself when you announced you were leaving at the end of my sophomore year. I was one of the lucky students to get you for both semesters of English one and two. I admired so many things about you, your sacrifice for our country, your one of a kind stories, and the way you truly cared for each one of your students. Ultimately, you became my favorite teacher. I had set up my schedule for my junior year to continue to have you in class and I was just beside myself that you weren't going to be going to the new school with us. However, not seeing you everyday has made your visits something to look forward to and I have loved staying in contact with you and still being able to learn from you. Thank you for caring about your students enough to teach them about the overlooked things in teaching such as how to give a "McDonald's effort" and always being there if someone needed a hug. You're one in a million and I hope every student gets the chance to have a teacher like you one day.

Although I'm not attending college to become a teacher like I thought I would for so many of my years, I'm still so very grateful for every one of their sacrifices and commitments to teach and love students. Thank you every one of you for everything you do.
